The Idea

Time is probably the most important ingredient when shaping an idea. Not with this one. The concept literary poured from the creator's pen down on paper. If you download this picture and read the text you will notice how very little has changed since the moment it was born. One thing you will notice though is the change of name from "The emergency outbox" to "The Unloader"

First Draft

In close relationship with the brains at ACNE, Farfar developed the first draft of the machine. It was decided that the documents should travel down three parallel lines; all served by an industrial robot pulling documents from three printers. To get a feel for the flow, a storyboard was put together to explain the process. Already at this stage, months before launch, most of final details are in place. Very little will change as we move along.

Dry-run

Sketching is easy compared to building. And the Unloader would have remained a fancy sketch if it wasn't for Jean-Louis von Dardell and Johan Harnesk plus his crew at Panorama. With almost unnerving confidence, they slowly and methodically put together one mechanism after another. With three weeks to launch, the tar-and-feathers machine was ready for a dry run. The laughter you hear in the video are not laughs of joy, they are laughs of relief.

Panic

No matter how much time you get to prepare, things always get critical in the end. With hours to go, the cannon didn't work. It was shooting burning paper everywhere except where it was supposed to. The shredder was not much better. To be fair, nothing worked the way it was expected. But with the same coolness as ever the Panorama guys fixed one issue after another.
